Oregon Coast

These two images were taken in July 2008 in Newport, Oregon.  The first is one of those shots where I was in the right place at the right time with a camera in hand.  We had driven south on the Oregon coast earlier in the day and were returning to the hotel when the fog rolled in.  We parked on the shoulder of the road where, it was clear many other cars had parked to photograph the bridge over the years.  I had time to take a few photos, this being my favorite, before two guys who were interested in robbing us showed up.  We recognized shortly after they arrived that they had designs on the camera equipment in the open trunk.  We jumped into the car and drove away with the trunk open and melted into traffic in town.  Our guess was they knew this was a favorite spot of photographers when the fog rolled in.  All's well that ends well!

This photo was taken at a shipyard full of buoys, nets and ropes used on ocean going boats. These buoys are unique in that they are pastel in color.  Most of the other nets and buoys were vibrant in color.

Both of the above photos have been accepted into the Art at the Center photography exhibition beginning February 1, 2009 running through March 29, 2009 at the Overland Park Convention Center.  After February 1, google Art at the Center Overland Park and you can look through the virtual gallery of all of the exhibited photos.  It's always a good collection.
