Winter Solitude

Winter has arrived in Kansas City.  It dropped 15 degrees in 15 minutes this past Sunday and, at the end of the day was about 40 degrees colder than the beginning of the day.  We had a couple on inches of snow last night, with the attendant traffic jams on the way to work today.  I'm always disappointed when I can't get out in the snow with my camera but today was frigid - high of about 19 degrees.

This photo was taken a couple of years ago in the middle of the city.  I had been out taking photos for about three hours on a Sunday morning and was headed home for some hot chocolate when I drove up a hill and saw these two trees silhouetted against the cloudy sky. This is a color photo but the day was so grey and white, the scene photographed as black and white.  It was my favorite photo of the day.

This photo has been accepted for exhibition in two juried competitions and is one of my favorites.
